We deliver the best software building blocks and tools to enable rich devices and device experiences; invest in end-to-end device experiences (such as the Smartphone, Pocket PC, and Microsoft Windows CE for Automotive), and enable users to take advantage of rich applications and services through support for managed code and the .NET Framework. Mobile Embedded Devices Product Group (MEDPG)

MEDPG is dedicated to the design, development, testing and commercialization support of two major lines of products: Windows Embedded (Win CE) and Windows Mobile (WM). Windows CE is a powerful embedded system small enough to reside in ROM (no hard disk required) which brings Windows into new environment where space is limited: car, point of sales terminal, medical equipment or mobile devices to name a few. Windows Mobile, developed on top of Windows CE, provides for all the additional components required to develop mobile devices like the Pocket PC, Pocket PC phone edition or Smartphone.

The MEDPG organization is structured around five major groups:
- Windows CE: responsible for the design and development of Windows embedded
- Windows Mobile: responsible for the development of the core features of Windows Mobile and the support to the developers
- MED eXperience: responsible for the development of the user interface, and the overall end user experience
- OORT: OEM and Operator Response Team: responsible for the support of partners in the commercialization phase
- MED Release and Engineering Excellence: responsible for the overall assembly, testing and quality across the group, including the definition of processes and tools

Communications Sector (CS)

Microsoft's Communications Sector is responsible for selling all of our company's products and solutions to Telecommunications Service Providers, Hosting Service Providers and Media & Entertainment companies worldwide. Our goal is to deliver integrated, adaptable, comprehensive solutions built on innovative software that help our customers develop and deploy revenue generating services. Our challenge is to transform our position in Communications from being a supplier of core IT solutions into becoming a trusted strategic partner for Service Providers in all aspects of their business.

This is an exciting challenge as we are moving our company away from our traditional areas of expertise into a new world of converged communications where compelling new services and content will be delivered over Broadband IP infrastructure.

Mobile Embedded Devices Marketing Group (MEDMG)

MEDMG is the marketing arm of the Mobile and Embedded Devices Division - the smallest and fastest growing of the seven Microsoft P&Ls. MEDMG is changing the way the world informs and entertains themselves through a wide range of mobile devices including Windows Mobile for Smartphone, Windows Mobile for Pocket PC and Windows Mobile for Portable Media Centers that are delivered by over 40 device makers and more than 65 mobile operators around the world. Our Windows Embedded platforms, Windows CE, Windows XP Embedded and Windows XP Embedded for Point of Service are having that same level of impact and are used by more than 8,000 device makers around the world in solutions as varied as consumer electronics, robotics and medical systems. Our newest business effort, Applications and Services and 2nd party software publishing, will enable our customers to realize even more value from their relationship with Microsoft on Windows Mobile devices.

Devices, Services and eXperiences (DSX)

The Devices, Services and eXperiences team creates innovative, compelling services, applications and devices that help customers get more done and have more fun on Windows Mobile Platform. The team is also responsible for building new device solutions that take advantage of XP embedded. The product areas that are specifically in DSX are Windows Automotive, Portable Media Center, among others.

- Portable Media Centers put all of your favorite video, music, and pictures at your fingertips wherever you are. Take digital entertainment from your computer with you on the go, including recorded TV shows, downloaded videos, home movies, music, and photos. With Windows Mobile software that features an easy-to-use, familiar Windows XP Media Center Edition interface, Portable Media Centers let you enjoy immediate access to all of your favorite entertainment - anytime, anywhere. The PMC team is taking leading-edge hand-held device technology and developing applications and securing partnerships with providers of licensed mobile video, music and movies.

- The Mobile Experiences Team (MET) is focused on delivering the Windows Mobile Advantage to customers. We help people around the world get more done and have more fun with Windows Mobile applications and services - at home, at work, any time, anywhere. We aim to increase Microsoft's share of connected devices by building compelling, high value software experiences which feature rich applications, essential services and solutions for IT to help manage Windows Mobile devices. MET is building a strong applications and services business on the Windows Mobile platform that leads to robust partner solution offerings and an overall healthy ecosystem for the Windows Mobile platform.

- Automotive Business Unit (ABU) is builds incredible products for people on the go. The group is responsible for two products (Windows Automotive and our new Windows Mobile for Automotive Platform) focused on building and driving a healthy global platform franchise to address the growing in-vehicle information, communication and entertainment opportunity (telematics). Our long term vision is to improve the lives of automobile drivers and passengers by developing and enabling valuable and responsible communication, location, and entertainment experiences. Our technology is currently installed in 25 car models from 13 car manufacturers and suppliers like Acura, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, Acura, Honda, Toyota, Fiat, etc. We will also be leveraging our deal with Fiat to promote/launch a new consumer gateway solution for the car.

We are creating a team to support the next generation of in-car automotive experiences for our customers. Plus we have some of the coolest demo cars in the industry from a Hummer H2 to an eco-friendly Toyota Prius. What other place lets you work with software and cars in an incredible environment?
